Spin for Beginners: What to Expect at Your First Ride at SAINT Studios

17 October 2025

Starting something new can feel exciting, but it can also feel intimidating. If you’ve ever scrolled through social media and seen a spin class moving in perfect rhythm or flying through intense routines, you might wonder: “Is spin class for beginners? Can I really do this?

At SAINT Studios, the answer is simple: Absolutely!

We love welcoming first-timers, whether it’s your very first spin class or your first time stepping into SAINT. Our Ride format is designed for every fitness level, and our team is here to make sure your first class is safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable.

What to Expect Before Your First Spin Class

We recommend arriving about 15–20 minutes before your class. When you walk through our doors, our front-of-house team will greet you and walk you through everything you need to know.

Where the changing rooms are

Where to fill up your water bottle (we sell water if you forget yours!)

Where to grab your sweat towel (you’ll definitely want one!)

From there, you’ll head up to the Ride studio, where your instructor will be waiting to meet you.

Getting Set Up on the Bike

Don’t worry if you’ve never clipped into a bike before, we are here to help.

Here’s how it works:

You’ll grab your cleats (cycling shoes) from outside the Ride studio before class – These keep you safe and make your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Your instructor will help you adjust the bike to fit your body and talk you through hand positions, resistance, and how to ride to the beat of the music.

From the moment you sit down, you’ll feel supported.

What Happens During Class

Spin classes at SAINT are about you, your pace, and your experience. The instructor will guide the class through intervals, climbs, and rhythm sections – but you are always in control. Need a break? Take a seat, reset, and rejoin when you’re ready.

The first time might feel different, but with every ride you’ll gain more confidence, rhythm, and strength. The key is simple: breathe, move with the music, and enjoy yourself.

What to Bring & How to Prepare for Your First Ride

We want your first class to feel as smooth and stress-free as possible, so here’s a quick checklist:

• Water: Bring a bottle, or grab one from our front desk if you forget – Staying hydrated is key.

• Comfortable clothing: Wear workout gear you feel confident sweating in.

• Fuel beforehand: Make sure you’ve eaten something light and hydrated before class, you’ll have more energy and enjoy it more.

• Extras we provide: We’ve got you covered with sweat towels, shower towels in the changing rooms, and wet kit bags for your post-class gear.

Recovery & treats: After class, why not refuel with a smoothie from our smoothie bar? It’s the perfect way to round off your session.

No one expects you to be perfect, and no one is judging. At SAINT, our goal is to make every rider – no matter their fitness level, feel welcome, safe, and supported. We believe movement should build more than just fitness. It should build connection, confidence, and community. In a world where so much feels digital and disconnected, our studio is designed to bring people together through sweat, music, and shared energy.
